About ICMPD

The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) is an international organisation, with 21 Member States and working in more than 90 countries worldwide. Contributing to the development of better and safer migration policies and programmes, ICMPD takes a holistic approach to migration: structurally linking policy and research, cooperation, community outreach, and capacity development. With over 500 staff members, it takes a regional approach in its work towards efficient cooperation and partnerships along key migration routes, with a focus on Africa, Central and South Asia, Europe, Mediterranean, and the Middle East. Founded in 1993 with headquarters in Vienna and liaison office in Brussels, ICMPD holds UN observer status and cooperates with more than 200 partners including EU institutions, UN agencies, Member States, and several countries. ICMPD receives contributions from its Member States and bilateral donors, the European Commission, UN partners, and other multilateral institutions.

Our Work

ICMPD strives for comprehensive, sustainable and future-oriented migration governance and applies a three-pronged approach: capacity building, migration dialogues, and research. These three elements feed into each other and together they represent the “DNA” of ICMPD. Drawing on the three-pronged approach, ICMPD supports its Member States and partners by sharing with them its in-house knowledge and profound expertise in all fields of migration management. As the facilitator of several migration dialogues, ICMPD is in a unique position in terms of regional networks and knowledge as well as geographic and thematic outreach.

Applying for a vacancy at ICMPD

Welcome to the ICMPD Careers portal. Here you can see at a glance the current vacancies at ICMPD. The vacancies listed below do not include Internships or Calls for Experts. If you are interested in either of these categories, please go to ICMPD website and select the applicable tab on the ‘Work with Us’ page. In order to apply for a vacancy with ICMPD, please follow the guidelines below:

Using the filter option “By Location” you may search for open vacancies in various locations. Should you wish to apply to any of our current vacancies, you are requested to complete and submit your application in English by midnight (CET) of the closing date specified in the vacancy. For this purpose, you will first need to register with ICMPD Careers. Once you have entered the required data, you will be able to login with your credentials and apply for vacancies.

During the application process you will be asked to provide or to confirm personal data, contact information, employment and educational records. Furthermore, you will be requested to submit relevant documentation to support your application such as a Curriculum Vitae, Motivation Letter, List of Professional Referees and/or Professional Certificates/Diplomas. Where requested, these documents must be uploaded in standard PDF format. It is highly recommended to check the job vacancy details and have these documents ready prior to application process.

We encourage you to apply for relevant, current vacancies as soon as possible after the date of publication, and well before the stated deadline. Any applications received after the stated deadline, including offline applications submitted via email, fax or post, will not be considered.
