RIAT: Six-Month Retrospective 2024

Dear RIAT Community,

Looking back to the past six months, RIAT has undergone significant improvements; among others a newly enhanced platform and the onboarding of all EU+ Member States - which are now fully operational. This new version brings improved features and increased speed, enhancing your overall experience.

What you will find on the six-month retrospective

RIAT User Community

With Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Luxembourg, and Portugal successfully onboarded in these first six months of 2024, RIAT is now operational in all 29 EU+ Member States being immediately integrated in their national administration processes.

This expansion marks a significant milestone, reflecting RIAT’s growing influence and the increasing recognition of its value.

Since January 2024, more than 40 training sessions have been conducted, with over 300 new users trained.

These sessions are needed in empowering the RIAT community with the knowledge and skills needed to leverage the full potential of the platform.

RIAT Latest Updates

As a constant evolving platform, many updates were implemented in the first semester of 2024.
  • Standalone platform: RIAT has been relocated to a standalone platform. This change has led to a significant improvement in the tool's speed, allowing for more efficient handling and processing of cases without the delays experienced in the previous version;
  • New options for Access Managers: Access Managers can now remove users who no longer need access to their organisation’s caseload, enabling faster implementation of actions without requiring additional steps;
  • Reason(s) of rejections: reason for rejection can be viewed under the caselog of the case in question.

In addition, here you can find an overview of technical issues state of play and next steps.

What’s next?

Looking forward to the next six months, an ambitious agenda lies ahead. Below some of the further developments and releases that will continue to enhance the platform and the user community:

  • A new helpdesk will soon be launched! This new online ticketing system will facilitate your interaction with the RIAT support team and keep track of your requests;
  • RIAT e-learning development: new e-learning modules are being developed to enhance the user learning experience alongside in-person training. The first three modules are scheduled for release by the end of the year;
  • We look forward to unveiling our new logo and visual identity, reflecting RIAT's role as a pivotal EU tool;
  • A monthly update to update all users on the latest developments, insights, guidelines, and data, as of September 2024.

Projects on RIAT

In addition to the EURP and other complementary national programmes, RIAT is home to various projects that support the implementation of the reintegration assistance worldwide. For instance, below the Return and Reintegration Falicity (RRF) projects either currently active or soon to be configured:

  • LOSRA: The RRF-funded project 'Local Ownership for Sustainable Reintegration in Armenia' aims to support the reintegration of Armenian returnees, offering medical services, professional and household equipment, and psychosocial assistance, tailored to their needs. Eligible returnees must have departed from an RRF Member State and applied for assistance within three months of departure. So far 58 cases were submitted - the project is active until 30 June 2025.
  • PROSPECT: this project, focusing on support to vulnerable migrants returning to Nigeria, will soon be configured in RIAT, more information in the coming months.
  • MEDRA+: the project will soon be configured in RIAT, more information in the coming months.

Graphs and data

Since June 2023, there has been a 284% increase in submitted cases, a rise that underscores a heightened level of activity and engagement in this period, with a 40% increase in the first six months of 2024.

A steady upward trend that highlights a continued and growing use of the platform by the users from all EU+ Member States and reintegration partners.

The number of users experienced a considerable growth over the one-year period from June 2023 to June 2024.

Specifically, the user base expanded from 874 individuals in June 2023 to 1386 individuals in June 2024, representing a 59% rise in the number of users.
